The Pinnacle Ski Club has been established for over fifty years with lodges available all year round. The mix of members includes families, singles and a large portion of long term members making the club a great experience for a diverse range of age groups. About Mount Ruapehu
Members who join our club can enjoy access to the stunning Mount Ruapehu and the surrounding ski fields of Whakapapa and Turoa. Consisting of three major peaks, this standalone mountain is a stark, stunning exclamation point on the North Island landscape. One of the world’s most active volcanoes, Mount Ruapehu is also the only place on the North Island where you can find glaciers. The surrounding ski fields of Whakapapa and Turoa are amongst New Zealand’s largest. Turoa contains a mix of intermediate and advanced trails, as well as two beginner areas and has a slightly longer ski season than Whakapapa. Whakapapa ski field consists of largely intermediate and advanced trails, with only about a quarter of the trails suitable for beginners.
Our Facilities
Join our ski club near Mount Ruapehu and enjoy two options of staying either at the "ski-in and ski-out" lodge located on the Whakapapa ski field or at our Turoa lodge located in Ohakune's Alpine Village.
Whakapapa Lodge
When you join our ski club you can enjoy the comfort and convenience of staying at Whakapapa lodge . Our Lockwood style lodge is located inside Tongariro National Park and is just 2 minutes from the top of the Rock Garden chair lift. Ski-in Ski-out with a winter Custodian cooking Breakfasts and Dinners, not only do you not have to deal with the hassle of driving up the mountain road everyday but you don’t have to think of what to have for dinner either.
Turoa Lodge
Make the most of Ohakune village life at our Turoa lodge. This lodge is popular with young families and members who join our Turoa club looking for variety in their skiing holiday. Our Turoa lodge is accessible by car all year round and affords you easy access to Ohakune’s restaurants and shopping centre.
